矢来の家 [renovation]住宅

矢来の家（減築） 築五十年ほどの長屋の一部を「減築」して芝張りの庭とし、残された建築内部を、１階は庭とつながる土間とその奥の和室とし、２階は一室空間として居間などに使われている。
House in Yarai (reduced construction) A part of a fifty-year-old row house was “reduced” to create a lawn garden, and the remaining interior of the building is used as an earthen floor connected to the garden on the first floor and a Japanese-style room behind it, and as a living room on the second floor.

門の引戸を開けて中に入ります。以前の玄関ポーチの石張りが残されています。
Open the sliding gate and go inside. The stone cladding of the former front porch is still in place. |

減築後の外観です。手前にあった古い平屋の部分を取り除いて、芝貼りの庭としました。外壁は昔のままで塗装をしなおしました。平屋の屋根の痕跡が、外壁に少し見えています。
This is the exterior of the house after it was reduced. The old single-story part in the front was removed and replaced with a lawn garden. The exterior walls were painted in their previous form. You can see a few traces of the flat roof on the exterior walls. |

平屋を解体して作られた庭を二階から見ています。芝張りの広場と道路の間には四季折々の花を咲かせる樹木が植えられました。道路との間のブロック塀を少し低くしてモルタルで化粧しました。
The garden, created by demolishing a single-story house, is seen from the second floor. Between the grassy plaza and the road are trees that bloom in all seasons. The block wall between it and the road has been lowered slightly and mortared. |

１階土間より庭を見ています。玄関は無く、広い土間に入る際に靴を脱ぎます。新しく作られた明かり障子がプライバシーを守ります。
We are looking at the garden from the first floor mudroom. There is no front door and you take off your shoes when you enter the large earthen floor. The newly made shoji screens protect the privacy. |
